He also got some help with the lyrics from legendary Ian Hunter (of Mott The Hoople). Before this, McCoy had written most of the songs by himself, but for this album Bob Ezrin helped McCoy with the writing, along with Monroe. The next year 1983, the band released Back to Mystery City and after that, in 1984, the band worked with producer Bob Ezrin, and released Two Steps from the Move. The tour for the album took the band to Asia for the first time. Later that year the band released Self Destruction Blues, which had Razzle on the cover, but he didn't play on the album, because it was actually a compilation of old singles. ![]() The line-up with Razzle is considered the definitive version of Hanoi Rocks. After the album's release, the band moved to London the same year, and subsequently fired drummer Gyp Casino before hiring Hanoi Rocks fan Nicholas Dingley, better known as Razzle, as drummer. The original cover's back side featured Andy McCoy's then girlfriend Anna's naked breasts painted blue and red with "Hanoi Roxx" written across it. In 1982 Hanoi Rocks recorded and released their second studio album Oriental Beat in London. The album was produced by Andy McCoy and Michael Monroe who were known as "The Muddy Twins". Hanoi Rocks released their first album in 1981 titled Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks, with nine out of ten tracks written by McCoy. At this point, the Hanoi Rocks line-up consisted of Michael Monroe (lead vocals), Andy McCoy (lead guitar), Nasty Suicide (rhythm guitar), Sam Yaffa (bass) and Swedish Gyp Casino (drums). After McCoy left Pelle Miljoona Oy, he joined Monroe in Hanoi Rocks, with another former-Pelle Miljoona Oy member, Sam Yaffa. During this time McCoy was talking with Matti Fagerholm (better known as Michael Monroe) to start a band of their own, but because McCoy was currently in Pelle Miljoona Oy, he told Monroe to start the band without him in 1979. Their career can be labelled as astonishing and e.Before Hanoi Rocks, McCoy had become well known in his home country, Finland, due to his work in the punk rock band Pelle Miljoona Oy. Judas Priest without doubt counts as one of the best and most charismatic Heavy Metal bands in history, and has always been one of my favourite bands. While the band would go on to release even bett. The album is filled with energized and melodic Heavy Metal from start to finish. Vicious Rumors' debut album from 1985 shows a band with huge potential. There is this weird quirk that people have that if you like some particular thing they believe you will get into anything hav. This One's For Rock'N'Roll (Best Of Hanoi Rocks 1980-2008) - (Brian)īook review: Sheriff McCoy - outlaw legend of Hanoi Rocks - (Michael) Twelve Shots On The Rocks (Reissue) - (Brian) Live at Molotow, Hamburg, Germany - February 25th 2005 - (Michael) "Buried Alive" is a worthy aftermath to one of the greatest bands ever and one of the true originators of Glam/Sleaze rock. Hanoi Rocks may be put to rest but the music lives on. The club has also been Hanoi Rocks' homeground and the 8 sold out Tavastia farewell shows in 6 days just underlines that. The crowd is very close to the stage and overall Tavastia is a very cool club to film the show. The club is packed and the atmosphere is amazing. The small stage at Tavastia Club hampers them a bit but when you play 2 hours and 30 minutes you need to save some energy. The band is energetic and plays with passion. Nasty Suicide and former drummer Lacu joins in for the grande-finale Up Around the Bend - the song that always closes Hanoi Rocks' shows. Christell are good exponents for the "new" Hanoi Rocks, while Nasty Suicide makes a guest appearance on Travellin' Band and Taxi Driver. The farewell show does not dwell in the past but compiles Hanoi's career beautifully. This live recording only proves that the band is tight and their songs are timeless. McCoy and Monroe have put Hanoi Rocks to rest, but the band goes out on a high note with brilliant albums like "Street Poetry", "Another Hostile Takeover" and "12 Shots on the Rocks". The comprehensive show is filmed at Tavastia Club, Helsinki, Finland April 12th 2009 and just released under the meaning title "Buried Alive". Hanoi Rocks' last show ever has been immortalized.
